Chief Mate / Master Limited
Chief Mate & Master-HND Nautical Science (Examination Route)
- Holds COC OOW Unlimited II/1 Certificate with 12 months experience.
- Hold a valid personal medical fitness certificate recognized by the MCA.
- Candidates who completed the NAEST(O) course prior to 1st January 2005 must have completed an MCA approved IMO Model 1.27 ECDIS course before undertaking the NAEST(M) course.
To Obtain Master COC (Unlimited)
Once a Chief Mate CoC has been achieved, candidates must complete 36 months watch-keeping service while holding an OOW unlimited II/1 Certificate of Competency before undertaking examination for Master certification. Then the candidate needs to appear the Oral examination by MCA only.

- Discharge Book (CDC) with 12 months of sea service after obtaining COC (OOW)
- Certificate of Competency (COC-OOW)
- If more than 36 months of sea time is available after COC-OOW, then can appear for both COC Chief mate and Master’s Orals.

This 9 months course can be done with (3 months online/offline in India)+ 6 months in UK.
Online/Offline Course for the first 3 month

- Bridge and Engineering systems.
- Command Passage Planning.
Course for the next 6 months in UK
Term-2 (Assessment for the below)
- Law and Management for mates and masters

- Underpinning knowledge of Chief mate and Master SQA Navigation exam
- Advanced ship stability and construction
- Under-pining knowledge of Chief mate and masters SQA Stability and structures exam

- Management Level NAEST
